Lake of the Craggs

I think we can all agree the summer hiking in the area is the best! The views you get are truly amazing, and each time you go is a new experience. This is my 5th summer in Jackson, and I have definitely learned a lot about the trails in the area, what to bring, and what to prepare for. You can find a great list of items to bring on Day Hikes at our What’s In Your Pack article.

Last weekend, I hiked to Lake of the Crags up Hanging Canyon, and it was awesome. To learn more about some great hikes in the area check out the articles A Must Do Hike: The Teton Crest Trail’ and 11 Great Hikes in Jackson Hole Some gear items that have been making all the difference for me this season are my Altra Timps, the Hydrapak 2L ShapeShift Reservoir, and Kate’s Tram Bars.

Altra Timps:

These shoes are so lightweight, it’s like hiking with clouds on your feet. Also, the cushion. It makes for a comfortable experience up and down the rocky trails and over the many miles. The outsole is made of a durable, soft rubber which provides great traction on any loose rock on the steep terrain. I have been so happy with these as my hiking shoes for the summer.

Hydrapak 2L ShapeShift Reservoir

The Hydrapak Shapeshift Reservoir allows me to carry a lot of water with me on the trail, without the excess weight of a water bottle. The construction of the reservoir allows for easy-cleaning since it can be turned inside out, and the opening at the top makes for easy, hassle-free filling.

Kate’s Real Food Bars

The easy-to-bring, tasty snack that keeps the hunger away. My favorite is the Lemon Bivy bar- it’s delicious.

These items keep me going, keep me hydrated, and keep me fueled for any epic day in the park! Here’s to many more hikes this summer, I feel like the list just keeps growing!!
