Yellowstone Park, Heart Lake Adventures

Yellowstone Heart Lake overlook

Tyler Randolf, Skinny Skis team member, and avid trail runner just did an epic adventure day in Yellowstone Park last week. Tyler ran to Heart Lake, climbed Sheridan Peak, and ran back completing the journey of 22.92 miles with an elevation gain of 4,124ft. Most of this elevation gain was in the summit to Sheridan Peak, a 3,000 ft elevation gain in 4 miles. Quite the impressive journey, and we caught up with him this week to see some gear items he brought along on the journey.

MSR TrailShot

“I like this pump because it is lightweight, small in size, and easy to use. This is a great item to bring on a run that features good water sources, because it allows you to bring less water and yet stay hydrated.”

SMITH Challis Sunglasses

These sunglasses have a good fit, and they wrap around your face, providing good sun and wind protection. The ChromaPop lens provides a nice clean and crisp vision.”

La Sportiva Bushido II

A great lightweight and supportive shoe for long runs and technical climbs. It provides great grip with the friction rubber and protection with the carbon fiber rock plate.”

On top of the Tyler’s Yellowstone adventure he has also completed the following runs this summer: Jackson Peak (10 miles), Emma Matilda Lake (9.9 miles) and Two Oceans Lake (8 miles). Catch up with Tyler when you are in the store next with any trail running questions!
