XC WAX OPTIONS

Ski bases chemically cleaned and metal brushed prior to waxing. “Waxless” skis treated with an anti-ice paste on the fish-scale pattern for improved glide.

INFRARED WAX SATURATION

Skate or classic: Ideal for new or freshly stone-ground skis. A well saturated base provides a lasting foundation for subsequent layers of wax. The additional step of hardening preps the base for iron applications and minimizes the potential of heat damaged bases. Infrared saturation – done properly – is superior to ironing and/or hotboxing for deep wax penetration. Includes base cleaning.

Roller Ski Services
For roller skis purchased from Skinny Skis, binding mounts and installation of speed reducers & brakes are free of charge. We DO NOT repair or replace V2 inflatable tires or tubes.

Our skate & classic grinds have been developed with inter-mountain west snow conditions in mind. Snow in our region is generally drier, colder, and not as prone to significant transformation swings as other areas of the country. Each winter season, we test and re-test new grinds and small adjustments we make to existing grinds, in order to provide the best possible performance solutions for a variety of snow conditions.

SKATE GRINDS
SS0 – Best for new to slightly transformed dry snow below 10F
SS1 – Broken linear covers majority of mid-winter conditions up to 32F. Accepts hand structure well
SS2 – Slightly “busier” grind than SS1 for new snow with higher moisture content (32F+ temps). Accepts hand structure well for increased moisture management

CLASSIC GRINDS
SC0 – Very fine linear for dry snow below 10F
SC1 – Linear covers majority of mid-winter conditions up to 32F. Accepts hand structure well
SC2 – Slightly more aggressive grind than SC1. Accepts hand structure well for better moisture management. Ideal “Quiver ski” grind.

Base saturation and hardening (recommended)
Two-step process – Infrared soft-wax saturation followed by base hardening with specific wax to prep the base for further waxing – scraped & brushed after each step. Application protective wax (un-scraped).
